Art and About in Grassington

Grassington Festival is calling for artists to participate in the wonderful public art project:

'A Flight of Fancy'

During the Festival a series of curlew sculptures will be exhibited around the local area and cities of the region. Artists are required to join this exciting project to design and implement a unique decoration for the surface of the curlews. Each artist will be provided with an identical blank fibreglass sculpture which has been especially commissioned for this project. It is expected that all final curlew sculptures will reflect the individuality of each artist although as the curlews will be sponsored the artists may in some cases have to respond to a brief. After the festival the sculptures will be auctioned to the public and a commission based on the final sale price will go to the artist after the running costs of the project have been covered.

We are also looking for sponsors to get this project in the air! We hope that each bird will be sponsored and your donation will be well recognised and included in marketing for the project. You can also choose the artist you would like to work with and have as much or as little input into the final design as you wish.....but no logos allowed!!! However if you were a company making spectacles for example and you wished your bird to feature spectacles in its final design... that would be fine!!
