Kit and the Widow
Quintessentially British cabaret.
Kit & The Widow may well be in their prime. With 50 years apiece they have now chalked up a dazzling century. Almost unbelievably (except when you see what they look like now) their unbroken stand at the crease has lasted 30 years. Their seditious songs expose all the ball tampering of contemporary life, something they would never stoop to themselves (in fact they’re too old to stoop for anything). The Thelma and Louise of Retro-styled-piano-and-voice-based-lounge-cabaret are delighted to be on the road again with their new show. No such tour would be complete without a visit to their favourite festival in the Dales.
Always popular, so do book early to avoid disappointment.

Viva Vivaldi!
“Weather or Not” - an opera for children and Vivaldi’s “Gloria”
Weather or Not is the result of two weeks of intensive work with local primary schools by professional musicians to create an opera about climate change. Works by Vivaldi provide much of the music for the choruses, but the children have created dance music using mainly recycled percussion instruments. Vivaldi’s Gloria is full of the bouncy rhythms and memorable themes which make the composer so popular. The Chorus has been chosen from choral societies around Yorkshire, and from parents of the children in Weather or Not.
Performed by the Northern Chamber Orchestra
- Nicholas Smith, conductor; Helen Quayle, animateuse; Sarah Mallen, soprano; Fiona Key, soprano; Ksynia Reynolds, mezzo soprano; Children from local primary schools.

An Evening With Blowers - Henry Blofeld
Loves and Laughs of one of Britains’ favourite commentators
Two hours of uncomplicated fun and much leg pulling. Blowers has danced his way vigorously with two hefty left feet from an irretrievably Edwardian upbringing by way of Eton and Cambridge, the City of London (briefly, but not briefly enough) to the Test Match Special Commentary box.
There is scarcely a toe he hasn’t trodden on along the way - and many of them more than once. And, to be serious for a second, it’s not only ‘Loves and Laughs’. The modern world in which we live gets a bit of stick. One or two of it’s most pernicious habits get kicked pretty firmly into touch - with a beaming smile of course. He has met any number of famous names along the way too, Ian Fleming and Noel Coward are a couple, and, well, you’ll have to come to hear more!

If you love The Hollies playing live why not buy the CD's to enjoy at home: Staying Power | The Hollies - Greatest Hits
The Hollies
According to a certain Guinness Book of British Hit Singles, throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, The Hollies had more hit records than The Beatles.Yet beyond those familiar songs, The Hollies have been responsible for a remarkably varied and intriguing catalogue of music. What’s more, this is one of the very few bands who have retained their status, dignity and cool - never descending to the revival package circuit, yet still regularly selling out major venues all over the world in their own right.
The performance is Hollies pure and simple – or complex and sophisticated - as the mood takes them. Wistful vocal harmonies or sheer raw musical power - each song is spectactacularly showcased by its own brilliant lightshow. Pioneering Pop or hard-edged Rock - through to their Power Anthems - The Hollies do it all - and they do it with style and panache. Cast aside any prejudices that you may have about Rock‘n’Pop being the domain of youngsters, The Hollies still hack it in a major way.
Do book early to avoid disappointment.
