Festival in the Square: Stories in the Square
24 June 2018 | 11am – 2pm
Venue: The Square
Join us over this weekend and be part of The Great Get Together in honour of Jo Cox.
Come and explore great stories with our magical story sessions for all ages. Enjoy interactive tales with Mud Pie Arts, encouraging children to use their imagination through art and drama, and experience the world’s first and only mobile poetic first aid service with the Emergency Poet.
A mix of the serious, the therapeutic and the theatrical, the Emergency Poet offers consultations inside her ambulance and prescribes poems as cures. There are skulls, jars of eyeballs and other body parts inside the ambulance and in the waiting room under an attached awning Nurse Verse dispenses poemcetamols and other poetic pills and treatments from the poetry pharmacy.
And later, come and enjoy A Strange New Space with Tessa Bide at The Octagon. A completely original one woman show without words, A Strange New Space melds physical theatre with stunning puppetry and original music, forming an unforgettable introduction to theatre for audiences of four years and older.
